Announcements
Hello mga kaibigan!
We would first like to thank everyone for all the support given towards Seattle University's United Filipino Club throughout the years. As many of you already know, UFC has had to cancel the 26th Annual Barrio Fiesta due to the COVID-19 crisis. Although we were devastated to announce its cancellation, we knew we wanted to prioritize the health and wellbeing of all communities who planned on attending our legacy event. This not only includes all of UFC’s members and performers, but also many others within Seattle University and its surrounding communities.
To our those who had planned on attending Barrio Fiesta:
Maraming salamat (thank you very much) for supporting our club and the students who had anticipated participating in our cultural showcase. On behalf of the United Filipino Club, we hope that you all still continue to support us as we navigate through this process together. As for now, please continue to stay safe and healthy so that we can see you next year!
To our United Filipino Club members and/or Barrio Fiesta performers:
Words cannot express how grateful we are for all of you who have participated in the 26th Annual Barrio Fiesta in any capacity - whether you were in a dance, skit, committee, helped with decorations, even just planning to watch, and so on. CJ and I both always believed that even though we were the Barrio Chairs, it is only through all of you that everything is possible (!!!) We know many of you are sad that Barrio couldn't happen this year, and we are too. Sad because our first-year members who did not even know what Barrio is like but decided to do it anyway couldn't experience that joy we feel when we're on stage and our club is cheering us on. Sad because our Seniors couldn't experience their last Barrio or Senior dance (hehe). Sad because our amazing Barrio committee could not showcase all their hard work and dedication given to Barrio throughout this nine month process. There are definitely many things to be sad about, but we want to emphasize that there have also been happy and memorable experiences that have come from this Barrio. We hope that you can all think about the friends and connections you made and the bonds that you've strengthened throughout this process. As for CJ and I, we're extremely happy that we have first-year students who want to help share our Fil-Am culture and continue our legacy at Seattle University. As for the seniors, we are so grateful to you all for being such great role models to our younger members and the advice you have given to us throughout your time here. As for ALL of our members/performers, please know how proud we have always been of you all. This Barrio is not one to forget— not even because of its cancellation and unexpected turn of events, but because of all of your love and dedication poured into its process.
With this, we hope that in the midst of it all, you all remember that Barrio Fiesta will still happen next year. The next Barrio Chairs are going to do an amazing job!!!
Hanggang sa susunod na taon! Ingat!
Until next year! Take care!
